I'm looking for thoughts on this build. I like to think of it as a fast caster build.

Elite Skill?

It's a work in progress build. I have yet to unlock any elite skills. I'm running through the PvE trying to get there as i go.

Currently in the crystal desert trying to ascend.

Any recommendations for modification are welcome.

I'm Assuming you only have proph.

If thats the case then this build is alright till your able to unlock elite skills. Once you start being able to unlock elite skills I think you should be good.

DO NOT FLAME HIM GURU FLAMMERS (He is a new player obviously and prolly only has proph and I am sure some of you remember those days)

Tbh I have the complete collection, however this is the first time i have ever really got past old ascalon.

I have been working well until now. but I find myself underpowerd and was wondering if there were any ways to strengthen this build. I have been getting as many skills in fire and healing magics as possible.

Flare is less useful once you hit Kryta where the armor on monsters jumps up a bit. Spammability isn't always a good thing. Healing Breeze is not a useful healing skill, especially if the attributes you have listed are accurate. You have 12 Fire, and nothing else. Definitely put points into Energy Storage, and if you want a self heal, look at [aura of restoration]. I don't remember where they all are for quests/skill trainers, but some skills you will want to look into getting are [fireball] and [rodgort's invocation]. Another one that has some nice use, although a large energy cost and exhaustion is [meteor shower], and you can pick that up near Lion's Arch.

If you actually have all the skills you posted, then you have Factions, and access to Kaineng Center. If so, you can easily reach an elite there, and a decent one at that. Outside the Marketplace a little bit is Lian Dragonpetal who has [double dragon]. Only 2 elites serve a Fire Elementalist well from those available in Prophecies, but both are not available until you reach the Fire Islands. [elemental attunement] and [glyph of renewal] can both be good uses for Fire Magic.

My Energy Storage is at 10 and My Healing Prayers are at 10 as well. I have Fireball & Meteor but not Rodgorts Invocation I think that needs to be got on Fire Island.

I have looked at replacing Flare with Fireball but I find it to be a slow casting process, and sad to say I am not a patient person.

I will look into Double Dragon thought it looks like a very good spell to use thankyou.

You only have 2 skills with less than one-sec activation. "Fast cast" usually refers to mesmers who have the fast casting attribute to make their spells and signets activate faster.

An ele can be like a fast-cast mesmer by focusing on skills with short activation times or use [glyph of sacrifice] or [glyph of essence], or [mindbender] (if you have Eye of the North). Also, weapon/offhand mods that provide "halves casting time" help in a big way.

Regarding you build, I suggest finding a skill to snare or knockdown the foes so they have to sit inside your [breath of fire]. Good luck and have fun!

The fast cast was just a quick name I came up with. It has no basis in any fact or other build.

I do need something to snare them. If I ditch my Healing Prayers I may well put some into Water Magic to snare them (I think thats where the best snares are)

You can also find some decent snares in earth magic like [skill]Earthen Shackles[/skill] which can work well with [skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill].

Also, as far as 'strengthening' your skills you can look into getting some rank skills like [skill]Intensity[/skill] or [skill]Elemental Lord[/skill].

If you're in the Crystal Desert you should get [[Ether Renewal (PvE)], it's a great elite that works well with any element.

Healing Breeze is poor.

Resurrect is pathetic as far as a resurrection skill goes.

Nice to see Attunement + Glyph in there. You should look into getting Rodgort's Invocation as soon as you can, if you intend on using Fire Magic.

Alternatively you could run a decent earth build with something like:

[Ether Renewal (PvE)][Earth Attunement][Aura of Restoration][Ward Against Melee (PvE)][Ward Against Elements][Eruption][Stoning][Enfeebling Blood (PvE)]

Just something to consider...

I'll be honest I hadn't considered an Earth Build. It always struck me as very slow to play.

I aim to get as many skills as I can obviously. Just making slow progress at the moment as there seems to be quite some jump from the jungle to the desert dificulty wise.

Here are some resurrection skills to consider. [[Rebirth] is available from the skills trainer in Amnoon Oasis, and [[Resurrection Chant] is available in Kaineng.

[[Glowing Gaze] and [[Liquid Flame] are a couple good fire skills available in Kamadan. [[Searing Heat] and [[Teinai's Heat] also have their uses, but I don't recall exactly where/when those become available.

Thanks for the res' I think Ressurection Chant looks best, I will take that one into advisement.

I'm thinking replacing Flare with Fireball and Inferno with Double Dragon when I get it.

It will be a slower casting build, but I think better for the energy management, as against alot of stronger enemies I find I am running out of energy

Edit: I have now adjusted My build taking into account some of the advice I have recieved in this thread.

Please note i have a +2 to Fire Magic.

Your attributes need work, but the build looks useable.

First, you don't have all your attribute points assigned with what you show in that build. 10-10-10 is possible, but so is 11-10-10. Those numbers do not include runes or headgear, so you should be able to raise Fire Magic at least 1 more point.

Second, you don't have any need for that much in Healing Prayers. Since the rez is the only skill from Healing Prayers, you don't need to put that many points into it. I'd recommend a split if 12-10-8 if you want a lot of points in Healing for the rez, or 12-12-3 if you realize the extra health and energy on the rez isn't as important. Then add in a head piece with +1 Fire Magic and a minor rune or Fire and Energy Storage. That would put your total attributes to 14 Fire Magic, 11 Energy Storage, 8 Healing Prayers, or 14 Fire, 13 Energy Storage, 3 Healing Prayers.

At the very least, make sure you hit the break point for Double Dragon to add +2 to Fire Magic for you. If you have 10+2 currently, you already do, just make sure you always hit that mark.

At the moment I only have the first set of quest atribute points.

I hadn't considered looking at the atribute allocation in this way, it looks interesting. The way its going I could just lose the healing prayers all together and concentrate in magic exclusively. However I like to have the res just to get my healer back if he runs into trouble.

You also don't need to put Aura of Restoration in anywhere. Attunement + Glyph is usually fine as far as energy management goes, or Attunement + Ether Renewal for demanding builds, not forgetting all the little skills dotted about which provide an energy return you can incorporate into builds if required (glowing gaze, mind blast, shock arrow etc..). If you use AoR for the health gain...that's what the Monks are there for.
